Warfare Against the Enemy The way I understand warfare is that as Believers in Christ, we are co-workers with God and we are His messengers on earth. We are His soldiers engaged in warfare to claim possessions and occupy for Christ. We sometimes engage in such warfare for our personal lives, for the lost souls, delivering the captives, healing the sick, enforcing our victory, and so forth. The fact is we have not finished the race yet so the devil may attempt to pull us down or to restrict us hence we need to be always alert, praying all the times, focusing on the Lord, remaining steadfast in righteousness. The war was won by Christ and this warfare is just to enforce our victory and occupy for Christ as we send decrees, intercede, confess the Word, apply the Blood of Jesus Christ and putting the whole armor of God. It becomes an easy warfare when we know we fight from a winning side. Key Principles of Spiritual Warfare: 1. Understanding the Battle is God's - The battle does not belong to us but it belongs to God. Our role is to ask God to deliver us from the evil one through prayer and confession of His Word. 2. Know Your Position in Christ - The devil plays with those who do not know their position. We do not waste time unnecessarily on the enemy who was defeated long ago. We have the One in us more powerful than the enemy. 3. Use the Proper Weapons - Our weapons are the Word of God (Sword of the Spirit), prayer, faith, confession, and the Blood of Jesus Christ. We quote scriptures and stand on God's promises rather than constantly addressing the enemy. 4. Discernment in Warfare - Sometimes we engage in fierce battles when it is a make or break situation. There are times when the Holy Spirit shows us the answer to our prayers but also reveals enemies trying to stop the manifestation. In such cases, we engage boldly putting Satan where he belongs. 5. Groaning in the Spirit - Prayer in the Spirit speaking in Holy Spirit inspired tongues helps us demolish strongholds in our lives. The devil does not easily give up at times and believers should not give up either. 6. Trust God's Faithfulness - God protects our marriages, finances, health, and jobs. We commit everything to Him trusting in His faithfulness and ability to protect us. We do not appear as if we doubt God's protection. The essence of warfare prayer is to cooperate with God, reminding Him of His promises in His Word. When we see the enemy attempting to interfere, we simply confront him with the Word of God and command him to leave. We bind demonic interference and claim our freedom in Christ. Remember that mountains may take time to move and there may be dry seasons when God seems unmoved by our prayers. These are difficult times when many Christians lose their faith, but these are also times when we must remain steadfast, knowing that the war was already won at Calvary. Our role is simply to enforce our victory and occupy for Christ.
